Donny Winn | First Camping Trip Since My Accident

Hey everyone I went out camping for the first time since my accident at the Salton Sea, well I’m not sure if anyone has ever been there before but the odor in the air is undesirable and I know all you people are wondering what I was doing there? Well there is this event that goes on once every year, its way too difficult to try to explain, so here is a link to the website there was a good amount of us that went. My dad took me off roading a few times which was fun but I forgot to mention my dad tends to get out of control but in safely matter even though I did end up with a small cut on my elbow which my good old grandma came to the rescue and bandage me up. PS I love u grandma and since we are on the subject of grandparents my grandpa was also there which is recovering from cancer everybody was happy he was there. And by the way everyone tends to tell me I have such strong will power I have to take my hat off to my grandpa he has more will power and his spirit’s are always up. Alright back to my weekend I got to spend some good quality time with other family members like my uncle Steve. We sat down and watch one of the NASCAR races I have no clue on which one it was. I also got to spend some time with my older brother Eric and me and my brother hasn’t got to hang out to often for the reason he is always working but he was kind enough to give me a few of his business shirts which I believe he did for some free publicity ha-ha no I’m just kidding. Oh yeah I forgot to mentions that I hung out with my cousin James, I haven’t got to spend too some good quality time with him since my accident. He picked me up in his dads Montero and took me down to where everyone was meeting the night before which by the way thank you James for taking me away from my parents. I do love my parent to death and they know that but it is just nice to meet new people. But that’s about it for this past weekend.

  1. You forgot to mention that your wonderful sister in law and cute little niece were there as well.

I’m glad you were able to join us! We had a great time!!

  2. We had a great time, too! We have to go camping more often! I’ve seen your dad and grandpa 4-wheel drive and I wouldn’t say they drive ‘safely’!! They’re CRAZY! I’m anxious to find out more about the baclofen pump. Keep us posted. We love you! :)

  3. I had a great time camping with you. I think you should be getting $ for advertising the baclofen pump…good luck with that! Great job on your website.

  4. It was such a happy event to have you, your Mom & Dad, Aunt Theresa & Uncle Steve, Eric, Carrie & Sophie camping for a coming-out party for you and Grandpa. Sitting around the campfire brought back a lot of memories from your childhood. Hope to go camping again soon with the Winn family. We are so proud of how far you have came and all the hard work you and your Mom & Dad to get where you are today.

Granpa’s blog will be coming soon.

  8. My 71 year old wife Mary Myrna Winn Herbinaux is a 4 year survivor of a traumatic brain injury. Myrna’s body was badly broken and her mind stolen from her by a distracted driver who struck her as she was crossing the street in a crosswalk. She has been left with very little meaningful past, little understanding of the present and no understanding of the future.

She is the 13th of 15 Winn children, born in Howard, Kansas. Frank, the 15th, is the family historian who has spent thousands of hours researching the Winn family name and I am sure he would like to make contact with you, if you are interested, email me and I will get his email address for you. After Myrna’s accident we purchased a double-wide 5 miles south of Bombay [Salton Sea] and spent a year there before moving to San Marcos. If you are local, we might be able to get together for lunch…Herb

  9. One other coincidence…two years ago, Myrna spent 9 weeks at Casa Colina….Herb
